agueda sanchez, is an information professional with over 20 years’ experience developing strategies, new products, systems, and information solutions for Fortune 50 companies.  She currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Master of Science in Information Management and is a member of the American Society for Information Science and Technology and the Information Architecture Institute. She obtained her Master’s in Information Management at the University of Washington iSchool in 2005.

 

Currently Agueda consults as an Information Architect focused on B2B eCommerce developing solutions for transforming the business and technical requirements into the user experience framework, communicating the web site’s interactivity, functionality, and workflow; defining the user-system dialog utilizing user-centered design, providing appropriate user-feedback mechanisms, and maximizing customer satisfaction; and occasionally creating personas and use cases, prototypes, conceptual models, and taxonomies.

 

She is the President and co-founder of RealArt, Inc. An art rental and sales business focused on promoting emerging artists and making original art accessible to anyone.  RealArt, Inc. provides a framework and infrastructure for making art available for rental and sale online. It currently targets customers in the real estate market and home staging industry.

 

Previously Agueda worked as a Lead Enterprise Architect at Starbucks Coffee Company and was responsible for the company’s information strategy and compliance; she delivered the enterprise content strategy and taxonomies for all its Web properties, a data stewardship program for master data management, an eDiscovery strategy plan, and built information architecture best practices for the company.

 

Agueda worked at Microsoft for fourteen years in a variety of roles where she contributed to the company’s continued viability by collaborating in the development of 10 major software products, grew Tablet PC handwriting recognition business by 30% and saved $1.2 million by negotiating more advantageous vendor contracts. She also contributed to sales increases by developing innovative product demonstrations and marketing solutions.

 

She has published two articles and participated in a national study on the social, economic, personal, and professional value of free access to computers at public libraries.

Born and raised in Mexico City, she currently lives in Seattle with her partner of 17 years. Agueda is a former tennis professional player and an avid golfer, enjoys traveling and an active social life.
